Students from our university conducted a technical visit to the Technology Campus of HAVELSAN, one of our country's strategic institutions in the defense industry, located in Ankara.
A total of 26 outstanding students from relevant programs participated in the visit, accompanied by Instructor Emrah Aydın from İpsala Vocational School, Dr. Instructor Mukadder İğdi Şen from Edirne Technical Sciences Vocational School, and Research Assistant Nur Banu Hancı from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering.
Dr. Mehmet Akif Nacar, the General Manager of HAVELSAN and a graduate of Trakya University's Faculty of Engineering, who visited our University on March 20, 2025, and held a talk with our students, had also signed a cooperation protocol.
As one of the first concrete steps of this protocol, our students and academics had the opportunity to observe HAVELSAN's R&D activities and innovation processes on-site during the visit. Our students, who were warmly welcomed by HAVELSAN officials, were provided with comprehensive information about the Corporation's projects in many critical areas such as cyber security, simulation technologies, command and control systems, and digital transformation solutions, as well as its high-tech infrastructure.
One of the most meaningful moments of the visit was the meeting with HAVELSAN General Manager Dr. Mehmet Akif Nacar. In his speech, Dr. Nacar emphasized the importance of university-industry cooperation and stated that the signed protocol would offer many significant opportunities to Trakya University students, especially in software development and internship possibilities. Nacar noted that this strong bond between his alma mater and the Corporation he works for is very valuable in bringing young talents to the defense industry.
This significant visit, which demonstrated the on-the-ground impact of the cooperation protocol signed between Trakya University and HAVELSAN, has concretized internship and career opportunities for our students in all engineering fields, particularly in computer, electrical-electronics, mechatronics, and aviation.
Following the technical visit, our delegation visited Anıtkabir, the eternal resting place of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, to pay their respects and express their gratitude.
