Trakya University Hosts Significant Sports Event within the Scope of its 37th Culture, Art and Sports Festival. Trakya University is hosting an important sports organization as part of its 37th Culture, Art and Sports Festival. The Turkish Universities Judo Championship, organized in collaboration with the Trakya University Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports and the Turkish University Sports Federation, has started at the Kırkpınar Sports Sciences Faculty 75th Anniversary Sports Hall.
The opening ceremony of the championship, where 199 athletes from 29 universities are competing, was attended by Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer, Trakya University Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hatipler, Turkish Judo Federation President Sezer Huysuz, Turkish University Sports Federation Vice President Prof. Dr. Ayşe Türksoy, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. A. Muzaffer Demir, Dean of Kırkpınar Sports Sciences Faculty Prof. Dr. Nurper Özbar, Secretary-General İlyas İpek, Edirne Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Selim Ak, academics, and students.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dean of Kırkpınar Sports Sciences Faculty Prof. Dr. Nurper Özbar and Turkish University Sports Federation Vice President Prof. Dr. Ayşe Türksoy thanked those who contributed to the organization and wished the athletes success. They expressed their hope that all athletes would have a championship without injuries, in the spirit of fair play.
Later, Trakya University Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hatipler stated that such events, carried out in cooperation with external stakeholders, demonstrate Trakya University's organizational capabilities at the national and international level. Hatipler emphasized the importance of sports activities taking place in accordance with the principles of fair play.
Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer, in his speech, highlighted the importance of hosting such a large-scale organization in Edirne for the city and emphasized that this step taken towards making Edirne the sports center of the Balkans is of great significance.
Following the speeches, plaques were presented to those who contributed to the organization. Afterwards, a performance by young judokas on stage garnered great interest from the audience. Medals were presented to the top-ranking athletes in the morning session, and the competitions continued with great rivalry.
