The 6th International AGBIOL Conference has begun.
The opening ceremony of the International Conference on Agriculture, Biology, and Life Sciences (AGBIOL), organized in cooperation with Trakya University and the International Researchers Association, was held with great participation.
The conference commenced with the National Anthem and an introductory video of the university, followed by a chamber music concert by students from the Trakya University State Conservatory. The 6th International AGBIOL Conference features both face-to-face and online participation at the Balkan Congress Center, with contributions from nearly 2,000 authors from 55 different countries and over 800 papers presented.
The first opening speech was delivered by Prof. Dr. Yalçın Kaya, Chairman of the Conference Organizing Committee and Head of the Department of Genetics and Bioengineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Trakya University. In his speech, he expressed pride in organizing the event, noting that this year’s conference set a record in attendance. He added that they plan to organize future conferences with even broader participation.
Following him, Trakya University Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hatipler emphasized that Edirne is a regional center for agriculture, having attracted the attention of foreign life scientists and botanists since the 19th century. Hatipler also highlighted that a significant number of plant samples have been collected by Turkish botanists and life scientists since the 1950s. He remarked, "In Edirne and Thrace, where new species have been discovered through research, it has been revealed that there are more than 300 endemic species, and Edirne is home to the world's richest population of about 50 species."
The 3-day conference will feature oral presentations and e-poster sessions by leading scientists in agriculture, engineering, and life sciences.
