The project “Gönül Elçileri Children's Academy” which was carried out under the leadership of Rector of Trakya University Dr. Erhan Tabakoğlu's wife Dr. Nilgün Tabakoğlu, hosted its new students. Young students, visited Trakya University Social Facilities near Meric river, and participated in various workshops in “Sultan II. Bayezid Kulliye” Health Museum, Selimiye Mosque and “Millet Kıraathanesi”. The first guests of “Gönül Elçisi Childer’s Academy”, which was initiated with the idea of Nilgün Tabakoğlu, were students from Fevzipaşa Primary School, came together with voluntary academicians from faculties of Trakya University at a fun Kitchen Workshop in Social Facilities of Trakya University near Meric river. Burak İşçimen, a faculty member of Trakya University, stated that the aim of the study was to develop concepts such as attention, coordination, creativity and production.
At the second step of the program, students visited the Health Museum of Sultan II.Bayezid Complex at Trakya University. With the guide of Trakya University General Secretary Assistant and Museum Director Hakan Akıncı students visited the Külliye and were given information on health services and traditional medicine given during the Ottoman period. Then they visited Selimiye Mosque, which is one of the most important works of Edirne and Turkish culture. After the refreshments given at Millet Kıraathanesi, the event ended with the children expressing their feelings about the day they spent, and said that they were very happy to get informed on Edirne. The initiator of the project, Dr. Nilgün Tabakoğlu said that “ We will continue to carry out workshops and cultural and scientific activities with the worthful academicians of Trakya University considering that our children need social activities in order to improve themselves. I would like to thank all of our instructors volunteering in this project for their great efforts.” Within the scope of Trakya University, "Gönül Elçileri - Children's Academy" project, will continue to meet students from different primary schools determined by the Provincial Directorate of National Education.
