President of the Council of Higher Education (CoHE), Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, visited the rector of Trakya University, Prof. Dr. Erhan Tabakoğlu, in his office.

During the visit other notable delegates including Prof. Dr. Naci Gündoğan, CoHE Executive Board Member, Prof. Dr. R. Cüneyt Erenoğlu, Rector of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University; Prof. Dr. İsmail Boz, Rector of Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University; Prof. Dr. Bülent Şengörür, Rector of Kırklareli University attended, and Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Hatipoğlu, Prof. Dr. Metin Aydoğdu, Prof. Ahmet Hamdi Zafer, vice rectors of Trakya University also accompanied the delegation.

Stating that Trakya University has an important function in the Balkans, Prof. Dr. Özvar mentioned that they have been following Trakya University for a long time and observed its significant contributions as a regional university.

Rector Prof. Dr. Tabakoğlu expressed the pleasure of hosting a CoHE President for the first time in the 42-year history of Trakya University. Prof. Dr. Tabakoğlu also provided detailed information about the projects and activities held at Trakya University in several fields such us education, the Balkans, health and museology, as well as the city's future prospects.

Following the visit to the rector’s office, Prof Dr. Erol Özvar, Prof. Dr. Erhan Tabakoğlu, and the delegation toured the historical and cultural sites of Edirne such as the historic railway station building in Karaağaç Campus, the Natural History Museum, the İlhan Koman Sculpture and Painting Museum, the Museum of National Struggle and the Treaty of Lausanne, the Complex of Sultan Bayezid II Health Museum and Imaret Museum, as well as the Old Mosque and Selimiye Mosque. Prof. Dr. Tabakoğlu informed Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar about the historical and cultural significances of each location.

Expressing his admiration for the historical and cultural values of Edirne, Prof. Dr. Özvar emphasized the importance and value of Trakya University’s role in preserving and passing on these values to future generations.
