Tamas Torma, Deputy Head of Mission Consul General of Hungary in Istanbul, and III. Secretary Bence Grezsa visited Trakya University. Hungarian diplomats, who met Trakya University representative, expressed their readiness to support the work of Trakya University by exchanging information on the Department of Hungarian Language and Literature, which is planned to start student recruitment. In the meeting were also discussed the issues such as activating the cooperation of the Hungarian universities, the “dual diploma program” of the Hungarian Language and Literature Department, and the students studying with the 2 + 2 formula.
Vice Rector of Trakya University Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Hatipoğlu, in his speech about Department of Balkan Languages and Literatures said “With the training given in this department, we are training the manpower needed by our country in Balkan studies. On the other hand, we also support the development of the dialogue between Balkan societies that share the same geography as the cultural and historical neighbors. Hungarian Language and Literature Department’s activation will not only contribute to the development of relations with Turkey and Hungary but also to the relations between Turkey and the Balkans and Hungary, which will be instrumental in further strengthening.
Tamas Torma, the Deputy Head of Mission Consul General of Hungary, expressed their happiness for the department to be opened at Trakya University, and that the only department on the Hungarian language in Turkey is in Ankara. However, with this new department to be opened in Trakya University, he expressed his belief that closer relations would be established in a closer geography.
