General Consul of the Republic of Belarus in Istanbul, Aleksei Shved visited the Rector of Trakya University Prof.Dr. Erhan Tabakoğlu in his office. Vice Rector for Foreign Relations Prof.Dr. Cem Uzun, Director of International Relations Research and Application Center, Assoc. Dr. Murat Türkyılmaz were also present. General Consul, Aleksei Shved, who has undertaken Belarusian Consulate-General in Istanbul since June 2018, expressed his happiness to visit Edirne and Trakya University in his responsibility area. He also informed about the universities of Belarus and expressed their readiness to cooperate. He added that cooperation with Trakya University in educational, scientific and cultural field will build a bridge between Turkey and Belarus. Trakya University Vice Rector for International Relations Prof.Dr. Cem Uzun stated that he has close personal relations with Belarus and that they intend to conduct joint scientific studies with the academic community in Belarus. By saying that Trakya University is the largest educational institution in the region, stating that they have a total 3,300 international students from 58 different countries, 3,000 of whom are from the Balkans, the Rector, Prof.Dr.Erhan Tabakoğlu added “As Trakya University, we are the founder and permanent member of the Balkan University Association. Thanks to the Union, we are signing many projects and establishing close relationships. We are moving confidently to our goal of internationalization. At this point, we make bilateral agreements with many universities, and provide exchange opportunities for our students and academicians with Erasmus + and similar exchange programs. All countries and universities that will support us in terms of the development of our students and academicians are within our hinterland, regardless of location. At this point, Belarus has an important place in our area of interest. For this reason, I would like to express that we are ready for the steps to be taken with the universities of Belarus and the cooperation to be carried out”.

The 6th International AGBIOL Conference has begun.
