The 11th International Sinan Symposium, organized by the Faculty of Architecture of Trakya University since 2005, was hosted by the Faculty of Architecture.  “Architecture and Economy ’was the title of this year's symposium, which was organized by Trakya University Rectorate and Edirne Governorship, to discuss different themes with the aim of improving knowledge sharing in vocational, academic and international platforms. In the symposium, which was realized on an international scale and made traditional by the Faculty of Architecture of Trakya University within the scope of Sinan Week activities, nearly 150 people, including 50 scientists, students and experts of the Faculty of Architecture attended and gave insights to our history of architecture made poster presentations, contributed to science and art with workshops and exhibition presentations. The opening of the symposium which started at the conference hall of the Faculty of Architecture of Trakya University, which is under the shadow of the Selimiye Mosque which was called “My Master Work” by Mimar Sinan. Rector of the Trakya University Prof. Dr. Erhan Tabakoğlu, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Prof. Dr. Burcu Özgüven, dean assistants, academics and students have attended the event. During the symposium Prof. Dr. Erhan Tabakoğlu said that “Edirne is a historical city with unique beauties of our ancient civilization. It is a place that hosts many cultures and civilizations throughout the history, which carries the traces of architecture and makes them feel it. It is a unique educational base with many architectural works with its bridges, caravansaries, mosques and the first works of the Ottoman Empire. We educate the architects of the future with our understanding of education, which is the principle of preservation and continuity of this heritage. I believe that the symposiums organized in this context are very important and I would like to thank our instructors for their contributions”. In the symposium, have also talked the Dean of Architecture Prof. Dr. Burcu Özgüven and Ali Faruk Göksu from Union of Historical Towns. Within the scope of “Sinan Week” was held an exhibition of “Aleppo Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow, by Architect Mahmud Zeynel Abidin from Yıldız Technical University Faculty of Architecture and was shown a video called “Senin Tasarımını Istemiyorum” from İKSV 4th Istanbul Design Biennial.
